Tiger golf loses President's Cup to Lindsey Wilson, 10-5

DANVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville dug itself too deep a hole to climb out of in the morning two-man team competition, eventually losing the 2013 President's Cup to Lindsey Wilson College 10-5.

Lindsey Wilson also won the 36-hole medal play match, 580-589. Campbellsville improved significantly shaving eight strokes off of Lindsey's morning lead of 17 shots, 286-303.

The Tigers trailed Lindsey Wilson 4 ½ to ½ at the end of the four-ball matches at Old Bridge Golf Course on the outskirts of Danville. That deficit proved to be too great a margin for CU to overcome in the 10 afternoon singles matches.

"I am very proud of these guys," said coach Kenny Lawson. "After being down in the team matches, the guys showed a lot of heart and battled back in the individual matches."

Campbellsville gained three points when Tanner Hall, Lukas Kvaavik and Jacob Sims closed their matches out early in the afternoon, pulling CU to withing 4 1/3-3 1/2. But CU could only pull out 1 ½ points in the remaining seven singles matches.

Matthew Razor was Campbellsville's low scorer on the day posting scores of 71-71 (142).

Michael Newton shot Campbellsville's lowest score on the day when he fired a 69 during his afternoon round.
