SPRINGFIELD, Ky. – Campbellsvill's JV baseball team (1-2) traveled 30 minutes down the road on Sept. 12 to take on St. Catherine College in a double-header. The JV Patriots beat CU in both games by scores of 6-0 and 5-0.
The first game was shadowed by some mental mistakes and errors on defense. The Patriots came out of the gates and applied pressure to the young Tiger team.
Although the pitching was acceptable, in Coach Beauford Sanders eyes, the defense and hitting was not. CU only recorded two hits in the first game.
"We did not run the bases well," Sanders said. "St. Catherine was ready to play and beat us from the very beginning."
The second game was much like the first. Brandon Willman was pitching in his first game of his collegiate career, and he did not get any run support.
"We had opportunities to score runs," Sanders said. "We just did not come up with the timely hits today. That's baseball, some days you score runs, and some days you don't."
Campbellsville JV Tigers will travel to Wilmore, Ky. to face the Eagles of Asbury University Wednesday, September 18th.
