Yearwood nets two more, Tigers shut out Bluefield, 2-0

Box Score

BLUEFIELD, Va. -- With a 2-0 shutout win today on the road over Bluefield College, Campbellsville University Men's Soccer improved its record to 9-1 on the season and 3-1 in the Mid-South Conference.

Sophomore forward Roraigh Yearwood led the CU offense in the win. Yearwood's first shot came in the 10th minute, only to watch it sail wide. He found a second opportunity just a minute later, however. Yearwood took possession of a loose ball in the Bluefield keeper's box, played off of a corner kick by junior forward Gustav Carlsson, and converted it into the Tigers' first goal, 1-0.

Though the score remained unchanged through the remaining minutes of the first half, Yearwood kept the hot-foot going after the break. Yearwood scored again for CU in the 60th minute off an assist from freshman forward Kevon Farquharson, making it 2-0.

Farquharson led CU in shots with six in the contest. CU finished with 23 as a team, nine of which were on target. Bluefield tallied 19 as a team, with six on target.

CU sophomore goalkeeper Max Malachiyev finished the day with six saves. Bluefield finished with seven.

Campbellsville will return to Citizen's Bank Field in Finley Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. to host Ohio Christian College.

This will be the first of a three-game home stint for the Tigers to start the month of October. CU is also scheduled to host No. 3 University of Rio Grande for Homecoming on Oct. 5 and University of Pikeville on Oct. 12.
