CINCINNATI, Ohio – Campbellsville University women's bowling returned from a near two-month break to finish sixth at the Storm Hoinke Bearcat Open at Western Bowl, Jan. 11-12.
CU climbed from 10th place after its six team games to rally with the third-best baker total of the tournament, 3,866 pins. The Lady Tigers' top baker score of 225 was the best in the 11th round of Baker games Sunday, and CU hit 200 twice more in their 20 games.
Campbellsville had four individuals finish in the Top 40 of the 130-bowler tournament. Kaylee Kaminski and Chelsey Stephens led CU with only a one-pin difference between them. Kaminski had 1,181 pins, while Stephens had 1,180 to finish 26th and 27th, respectively. Brandee Rae Lassiter was 34th with 1,139 pins and Keysha Martin was 36th with 1,129 pins.
Haley Roehl and Ashley Newman also competed for the CU team, each bowling three team games. Roehl averaged 164.7 and Newman averaged 153.3 pins per game.
CU's B team was led by Natasha Walker, who had a six-game average of 161.2. She was followed by Meredith Eastham (131.25 through four games), Candance Thomas (130.5), Sarah Apedaile (128.3 through three games), Danielle Salyers (120.7) and Katlin Weeks (107.7).
Lindenwood University took first-place overall in the tournament, followed by Martin Methodist College, Wright State University, Huntington University and Bowling Green State University to round out the top five ahead of CU. The Lady Tigers were 108 pins behind Bowling Green and 25 pins ahead of seventh-place Ursuline.
CU will return to action Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Bulldog Classic, hosted by Union College at Galaxy Bowl in Richmond, Ky.
