Women's golf takes step back on day two of fall MSC

BARDSTOWN, Ky. — Campbellsville Lady Tiger golf took a step back in the final round of the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament. CU shot a second round 341 to drop from third to fifth place in the team standings.



University of the Cumberlands ran away with the team championship, shooting a 627 (318-309) in the two-day tournament. Lady Patriot Rachel Pingleton was awarded medalist, shooting a 155 (78-77).
 

Campbellsville's Olivia Parrott led the way for the Lady Tigers with a tied-for-eighth finish. Parrott shot two strokes better than yesterdays 83 and finished with an 81 (164). Anna Marie Hyatt dropped off the pace and shot an 86 in the final round. Her 165 (79-86) total put her in a tie for 10th.

 

Mikayla Smith made the biggest improvement from yesterday's first round. The senior from Mason City, Iowa shot a second round 83; which was 11 strokes better than day one. Smith finished in a tie for 26th place.

 

Taylor Phelps (180) finished in a tie for 33rd and Grace Gupton rounded out the Lady Tigers in a tie for 39th with a final score of 190.

 

Cumberland University placed second in the team championships with a team score of 664. Lindsey Wilson College finished third, with a team score of 674. University of Pikeville finished fourth with a score of 684.

 

Georgetown, 713 (6th); Asbury University 715 (7th); Emmanuel College, 718 (8th); St. Catharine College, 786 (9th).

 

Campbellsville will now take two weeks off and look to make improvement before making a trip to the NCCAA National Tournament in Panama City, Fla. The tournament will be held at The Hombre and will go from Oct. 27-29. More information will be released closer to the tournament date.
