Box Score PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Tiger soccer locked up a first round Mid-South Conference Tournament game with a 4-0 shutout at the University of Pikeville on Saturday.
Four separate Tigers scored in the game, starting with Gustav Carlsson in the 16th minute off an assist by Ryan Foster. Foster added an insurance goal in the 38th minute off a pass from Marcelo Petit to give the Tigers a 2-0 halftime lead.
Petit collected his second assist in the 67th minute, as Roraigh Yearwood found the net for the 13th time this season. Guilherme Cheng tacked on one more Tiger goal with just 43 seconds left to play.
Campbellsville collected 19 shots to Pikeville's six and allowed only one shot on goal, stopped by CU keeper Josh Hollis. Pikeville keeper Diego Rivas had seven saves.
The win moves Campbellsville University (11-5) to 4-2 in the MSC good for at least fourth place in the conference. CU can finish as high as the No. 2 seed, depending on results next Saturday. The Tigers will travel to the University of the Cumberlands on Nov. 1 for a 3 p.m. game, while St. Catharine (4-2 MSC) will travel to Shawnee State University.
Currently, Lindsey Wilson College (6-0-1 MSC) has clinched the regular season conference title and Cumberland University (5-2) has completed its conference schedule and will finish in at least a tie for second in the MSC.Â
