BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Campbellsville's women shot four strokes better on Day 2 of the seven-team field at the Southern Shootout at Highland Park Golf Course, but still could not improve on a fourth place finish.
Olivia Parrott, overcame a quadruple bogey to shoot 77 and lead the Lady Tigers. Her 155 total was good for 14
th place. She was followed by
Anna Marie Hyatt 161 (82-80), 17th place;
Ashley Goodin 163 (82-81), 20
th place; and
Mikayla Smith, 171 (83-88) , 24
th place.
Lee University made up six shots on the University of the Cumberlands to win by nine shots — 571-582. Lee's Madison Alexander followed up her opening round 69 with a second-day 65 for a six-under 134. She beat first-day leader, Jamie Wright of Centenary by two shots. Lee had four golfers finish in the top nine.
Cumberlands, which finished second, was led by Candice Lindeque, who finished third with a 141 (70-71.
TEAM SCORES: Lee, 571; Cumberlands, 582; Jackson State, 652; Campbellsville, 656; Brenau, 670; Centenary, 694; and Birmingham-Southern 705.
Campbellsville will play in the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament Maywood at Bardstown (Ky.) Country Club on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 13-14.
