Campbellsville shot 628 as a team, sitting behind Lee University (594) and Bluefield College (624). Lee University won the Mid-East Regional Championship, gaining an automatic bid to the NCCAA National Championships, which will be played at The Hombre in Panama City, Fla., later this month.

Corey Sheppard was the Mid-East Regional medalist, shooting three-under, 141, in the two-day tournament.

The top five individuals were all Lee Flames, therefore the next individual player with the best score gained the automatic bid to Panama City. Bluefield's Logan Tilley, Mississippi College's Justin Hubert and Hiwassee College's Nicholas Jones all finished tied for seventh place with a 154.

The trio played in two playoff holes to decide who advances, with Tilley picking up the nod.

Campbellsville's Michael Newton finished just one shot out of the playoff hole, with a final score of 155 (79-76).

Andrew Jansen finished two shots behind the playoff, with a score of 156 (78-78). Tanner Hall (158), Dalton Olson (159) and Wade Cave (164) rounded out the Tigers' top five.

James Higgins finished with a 155 like Newton. But since Higgins played as an individual, he was not eligible for an automatic bid.

Mississippi College finished in fourth place behind the Tigers with a team score of 632. Hiwassee College placed fifth with a score of 642, Ohio Christian placed sixth (727) and Johnson University placed seventh (771).

Campbellsville will await hopes for an at-large bid to the NCCAA National Championships. The Tigers were the final team in last season at the tournament and placed 17th.

CU will travel to Bardstown, Ky., next week for the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament hosted at Maywood at Bardstown Country Club.
