Graham and Owen go downtown in rout over Thunderhawks

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. —  Lady Tiger basketball was able to play all 12 players on its bench and 10 of them scored in a rout over Miami University-Middletown. Campbellsville defeated the Thunderhawks 106-39 to start the season at 4-0.

Lexxus Graham scored a career-high 22 points and hit five 3-pointers. The freshman from Winchester, Ky. shot 8-for-13 overall, leading to her career day.

 

Senior Caroline Owen also hit five triples and finished with 19 points. Lindsey Burd was right behind Owen with 18 points and Lindey Young scored 16 points. Daizah Kimberland was the final Lady Tiger in double figures with 11.

 

The Lady Tigers came out of the gates on fire, shooting 17-for-23 (74 percent) and the Thunderhawks never would answer.

 

Campbellsville started by hitting its first four field goals and never looked back. Burd scored 10 of the first 24 points but cooled off in the latter stages. Owen opened up the long-range shooting with back-to-back triples, extending CU's lead to 36-17.

 

Graham picked up 16 of her 22 in the first half and capped it off by hitting her fair share of back-to-back 3-pointers and was fouled on the second. Graham connected on the free throw for the four-point play to extend the CU lead.

 

Campbellsville shot a blistering 69.7 percent (23-for-33) from the floor in first frame and finished the second half shooting 20-for-43 (46.5 percent). The Lady Tigers finishedby  hitting 56.6 percent of its shots and 40 percent (10-for-25) from the 3-point line.

 

Miami-Middletown struggled with the Lady Tiger pressure. Campbellsville forced 25 turnovers but also turned the ball over 21 times itself.

 

Campbellsville also dominated the rebound category, grabbing 56 boards compared to the Thunderhawks 23.
