Lassiter leads CU in MSC Singles & Doubles Championships

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Brandee Rae Lassiter led Campbellsville University women's bowling Friday at the Mid-South Conference Singles & Doubles Championships at Ken Bowl Lanes.

The senior from Vancouver, Wash., averaged 179.2 through five games with a total pin count of 896 to place 14th in the Singles Championships. Her doubles partner, Keysha Martin, was right behind her with 893 pins to finish 15th. Together, they placed seventh in the MSC Doubles Championship with 1,789 pins.

Chelsey Stephens was also right in the mix for the team lead, collecting 892 pins to finish 16th in singles competition. She and doubles partner Kaylee Kaminski finished ninth in the doubles event with 1,722 pins. Kaminski finished 25th individually with 830 pins.

Ashley Newman posted the single-best score for CU with a 215 in the second game, followed by Emily Florence's 213. Florence finished 23rd individual with 839 pins, while Newman was 28th with 821 pins to round out CU's Top 30 finishers.

Newman paired with Marissa Rehmet, who 35th individually, to finish 17th in doubles. Florence finished 19th in doubles action, competing with Haley Roehl, who bowled a five-game total of 713 to finish 41st.

The University of Pikeville took the first three spots in the Doubles Championships, with Astrid Valiente and Christina Halen winning the title. The duo finished first and second, respectively, in the Singles Championships. Valiente edged Halen by two pins.

Campbellsville University will return to action Saturday morning at 8:45 a.m. for the Mid-South Conference Team Championships at Ken Bowl Lanes.
