OAKLAND CITY, Ind. – Minutes were distributed evenly Saturday, as Campbellsville University paced its way to an 86-52 win at Oakland City University in its final non-conference game of the regular season. No Lady Tiger played more than 19 minutes in the game as all 15 players in uniform took part in Campbellsville's 25th win of the season.
"Everybody got in and got minutes, which is great," CU head coach Ginger Colvin said in her post game radio interview. "They've got a really good shooting team. I didn't think we attacked early, but give credit to Coach (Jessica) Mehringer. They were able to attack some against our zone."
The Lady Oaks' attack came early, as Lyndi Teeder and Brooke Jackson tied the game twice for Oakland City in the first 3:35 of play. However, Daizah Kimberland hit a layup for her first points of the game to give Campbellsville a lead it never gave up.
Brandi Richardson hit a 3 to pull the Lady Oaks back within a point, 10-9, but CU found its rhythm with a 9-0 run to go up double figures, 19-9, on a Hayley Hellyer jumper.
Campbellsville maintained its double-digit lead the rest of the game. CU entered halftime leading 44-27, with 21 of its points coming from the bench.
By the end of the game, 50 of CU's 86 points came from the Lady Tiger bench, led by Angie Lawrence's 13. Kimberland led CU's starters with 11 points, followed by nine from Caroline Owen on 3-for-4 shooting from 3-point range.
Richardson led OCU with 13 points, including three 3-pointers, while Jackson and Tedder each scored 12.
CU shot 54.5 percent (18-for-33) in the first half and finished the game hitting 51.7 percent of its shots, while holding the Lady Oaks to 31.1 percent. The Lady Tigers dominated on the glass, 55-22, including 17 offensive boards. Despite the large margin of rebounds, no player had more than five. Lindsey Burd, Ellen Sholtes and Lawrence each had five boards. Madison Clements and LeeAnn Grider had four apiece.
Campbellsville (25-3, 14-2 MSC) did not gain any ground in the Mid-South Conference standings on its off day from MSC action. CU still holds a two-game lead over No. 8 Georgetown College with two games remaining. Campbellsville will look to lock up the No. 1 seed and out-right Mid-South Conference regular season title on Thursday, when it travels to the University of Pikeville. Tipoff is 6 p.m.
