Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — For a team averaging only 2.6 runs over its last six games, Campbellsville picked a good to time to bring out its lumber, dispatching Georgetown 7-2, 8-0 in a MSC doubleheader today at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Lady Tigers (19-5, 6-0 MSC) used 20 hits and four Georgetown (8-6, 3-3 MSC) errors in pushing across their 15 runs. They also got good pitching, allowing only eight Tiger hits over 13 innings.

Victoria Decker improved to 8-3 with a five hitter over five innings, seeing no-hit relief from Martina Riney.

Decker worked out of trouble in the fourth when she stranded two Georgetown runners, but in the fifth she wasn't so lucky. Rachel Simms and Taylor Shaw singled with two outs and then a walk to Ashley Coppage set the stage for Emily Snow's two-run single.

Riney allowed only one runner in relief, a walk to Alexis Bahl. But CU shut the door with a Heather Oakley unassisted double play after flagging down a hot liner to first off the bat of Chelsea Riney.

Oakley got her team on the board in the first with her third homer of the season, a two-out shot to deep center. Then in the bottom of the second CU added three more runs.

Erin Benton lead off with a single and advanced to third on a ground out. Shelby Ray delivered a two-out single and Kristin Benton parked her seventh home run of the season to stake Campbellsville to a 4-0 lead.

After Oakley scored on Destiney Taul's single in the third, CU held a 5-0 lead into the fifth. The Lady Tigers scored solo runs in the fifth and sixth frames. Brittany Rippy plated one run with a double in the fifth and Kristin Benton scored in the sixth on a passed ball.

In game two, Taylor Wroe (6-0) pitched a five-inning two-hitter and Riney pitched one-hit relief to shutout Georgetown.

Alyssa Barker and Sara Paragon both had two-RBI games and Kristin Benton scored three times.

Taul singled home Kristin Benton in the first and a triple by Barker scored Kate Black and Ray in the bottom of the second.

In the fourth, Kristin Benton scored on a throwing error and a single by Paragon plated CU's fifth run.

Campbellsville closed out the six-inning contest with a three spot in the sixth on a hit by Oakley and a two-run error on Georgetown.

Oakley ended up with a four-hit day, scoring three times and plating two runs.

Campbellsville goes right back on the road for a makeup Mid-South Conference matchup with Cumberland University on Wednesday March 12. First pitch set for 2:00 ET in Lebanon, Tenn.
