Box Score 2 CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Taylor Wroe pitched a game-two one-hitter and Adrean Jordan and Erin Benton accounted for six RBIs as the Lady Tigers earned a split today with No. 8 Lindsey Wilson at Veterans Memorial Park.
The 9-1 win in game two was offset by a 4-2 loss in game one when CU could not get to LWC pitcher
Casey Bryan (12-0). Bryan did allow eight hits, but did not walk a batter in her seven inning, 10-strikeout performance. Victoria Decker (10-4) adsorbed the loss, allowing eight hits and striking out four.
Of Decker's four runs, two were unearned as Campbellsville's defense committed three costly errors on the day.
Lindsey Wilson went on top 2-0 in the third when the Blue Raiders were allowed an extra out, costing the Lady Tigers oner of the two runs.
CU tied the game at 2-2 in the fifth after Brittany Rippy and Kristin Benton singled with one out. Heather Oakley's single scored two runs and she nearly scored the go-ahead run when Sara Paragon's fly to right field was misplayed. But the relay to catcher Savannah Madison was in time to catch the sliding Oakley.
LWC (25-3, 11-1 MSC) got a run back in the sixth when Abbi Goedde's single scored Amanda Trampe. The Blue Raiders got an insurance run in the seventh on Madison Scott's second home run of the season.
Oakley and Erin Benton both had two hits in the game, and Kristin Benton, Jordan, Kate Black and Rippy closed out the eight-hit attack.
In game two, CU (24-8, 11-3 MSC) got some early offense and then road Wroe's arm to the six-inning finish. A three-run first was punctuated by Jordan's two run blast that hit the Community Center in deep left field. The Lady Tigers added a fourth run in the third when Kristin Benton homered to center field.
Goedde's fifth-inning home run broke up Wroe's no-hit bid.
But Campbellsville added four in the fifth and and one in the sixth to end the game early.
In the fifth, Shelby Ray, Oakley and Paragon singled and with two outs Erin Benton's liner to left barely cleared the fence. Kristin Benton hit a two-out double in the sixth and Ray's single scored the game winner.
Wroe's win was her ninth of the season giving her a 9-1 slate. Jordan Hood (9-2) took the loss and saw relief help from Jasmine Matchen in the third.
Ray had three hits and an RBI, and Kristin Benton (RBI), Oaklery and Paragon (1 RBI) had two-hit games. Jordan's and Erin Benton's homers accounted for six runs.
Campbellsville is scheduled to host Cumberland University at Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday, March 29 in a doubleheader set for 2:00 ET.
