COLUMBIA, Ky.  – Campbellsville University placed third at the Lindsey Wilson College Invitational on Saturday, March 29, but was only 13 points behind first-place LWC. The Tigers collected 91 team points with 10 individuals placing to earn team points. LWC won the meet with 104 points and Georgetown College was second with 98 points.

Demyteus Gipson led CU for the second straight week, leading the Tigers with 22 points, including a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash and second-place finish in the 100.

Brett Pierce led the CU distance runners with a first-place finish in the 5,000-meter run, while Joey Hartlage and William Pearson were second and fifth, respectively in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

I-Rell Patterson also took first-place in an event for CU, leaping 1.78 meters to win the men's high jump. Timmy Perdue scored 16 points for CU in field events, finishing second in both the long jump and triple jump.

Campbellsville will take a week off from competition and return to action April 11-12 at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn.
