Tigers finish fifth in Blue Raider Classic/MSC Spring

JAMESTOWN, Ky. – Campbellsville improved its score by seven strokes Tuesday, but finished fifth in the Blue Raider Classic and Mid-South Conference Spring Tournament, hosted by Lindsey Wilson College at the Lake Cumberland Golf Club and Resort.

CU also finished fifth among MSC teams in the spring tournament and finishes fifth in the MSC regular season standings.





Lindsey Wilson College won the tournament, beating Cumberland University by three strokes, 589-592. The Blue Raiders trailed the Bulldogs by two strokes (290-292) after day one but shot 297 on Tuesday to Cumberland's 302.

Cumberland University held on to win the MSC regular season title with a 14-1 overall record in the MSC fall and spring tournaments, while LWC is runner up with a 13-1-1 record in the two tournaments.

Dalton Olson led the Tigers with a two-round total of 155, shooting a 77 Tuesday to go with his first round score of 78 from Monday. He was the only Tiger to sit in the Top 20. Michael Newton was second on the team for CU, shooting an 80 and 78 in his two rounds to finish 22nd. Matthew Razor shot 163 (83-80), Dylan Bray shot 165 (83-82) and Brandon Collier shot 175 (83-92). Jacob Sims competed as an individual for CU, shooting 173 (86-87).

Collier owned the par 3 holes, leading all players on par 3s with a -3 combined score. He and Newton each had four birdies to lead CU.

Michal Pospisil shot 142 for the tournament to lead University of the Cumberlands and win the tournament by one stroke. He tied for low round on Monday with a 68 and shot 74 Tuesday to hold on for medalist honors. Chris Butler of LWC also shot 68 Monday but had a 79 Tuesday to finish fifth. Cumberland University's Austin Garrett shot 73 and 70 in his two rounds to finish one stroke behind Popisil.

Campbellsville will return to action April 14-15 at the Bluegrass Spring Classic at Cherry Blossom Country Club in Georgetown, Ky.
