Box Score 1 PIKEVILLE, Ky. – After a delayed start due to inclement weather and field conditions, Campbellsville University softball made up for lost time with two shutout victories in a Mid-South Conference sweep at the University of Pikeville, 2-0 and 5-0, on Friday. With the two wins, Campbellsville extended its win-streak to 11 games and remains only a half game out of second-place in the MSC standings.
GAME 1 – Campbellsville 2, Pikeville 0 – BOX SCORE
Victoria Decker went the distance for LTS in game one, picking up her 15th win of the season (15-8). The sophomore surrendered just five hits, striking out 12 opposing batters.
Campbellsville scattered two hits through four innings before plating its first run in the top of the fifth. Kate Black reached first base on a fielder's choice and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Brittany Rippy. A double to left field by Adrean Jordan scored Black from second to give CU a 1-0 lead.
Heather Oakley led off the top of the sixth with a single to center field and advanced to second on an error by UPike. Sara Paragon moved Oakley to third on a sacrifice bunt, before she eventually scored on a wild pitch to go up 2-0.
Campbellsville finished the game with four hits as a team and one error.
GAME 2 – Campbellsville 5, Pikeville 0 – BOX SCORE
CU opened game two with a two-out rally, plating three runs in the opening inning. Heather Oakley singled to left field and advanced on an error before being batted in on another single to left, this time by Paragon.
Jordan doubled to center and advanced to third on a throw home, scoring Paragon from first. Erin Benton then drove in Jordan with a single to center.
Campbellsville kept the offense rolling in the second inning too. Rippy doubled to left before being knocked in by Kristin Benton's two-run homerun on her first pitch of the at bat. CU quickly led, 5-0.
CU finished the game with eight hits as a team in game two.
Taylor Wroe picked up her 16th win on the season (16-2) and racked up six strikeouts in the circle for the Lady Tigers, giving up just three hits. Martina Riney took over in the 6th for Campbellsville, shutting down all six batters she faced.
