Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

COLUMBIA, KY. — Brittany Rippy's two-run home run in the top of the eighth propelled Campbellsville to a game two win and a doubleheader split today at No. 9 Lindsey Wilson.

The Lady Tigers, losers of five straight, after a 7-5 loss in the opener, nearly blew a 5-0 lead in game two before CU pounded out five hits in the extra frame and won going away, 11-6.

"We really needed this win," said coach Shannon Wathen. "We're the same team we were two weeks ago when we were ranked 22nd, but the losses have affected our confidence. Maybe this will get us back on track."

There were plenty of game balls to hand out. After a five-hit first game, the Lady Tigers (26-14, 13-9 MSC) hammered four homers in the second game, two by Sara Paragon. Paragon had five RBIs in the game and nearly missed her third homer with a shot off the fence in deep right that got her a stand-up double.

The Blue Raiders (31-5, 17-3 MSC) tortured three CU pitchers with a 13-hit attack and a four-run sixth inning to put the game out of reach.

Campbellsville was able to tie the game in the top of the sixth when Kate Black's double plated Erin Benton and Kendyl Ahrens. But Black was thrown out at third trying the stretch the hit, and Lindsey went crazy in the bottom of the inning, collecting five of their 11 hits.

Heather Oakley hit a two-out, two-run home run in the seventh to make thing interesting, but Paragon grounded out to second to end the threat.

Courtney Turpin (4-2) took the loss after relieving Martina Riney, who relieved Victoria Decker, in the sixth. Casey Bryan (15-1) was the winner.

Kristina Krupinski had three hits for LWC (two doubles) and Abbi Goedde knocked in three runs.

Oakley and Black had two RBIs apiece.

Campbellsville 11, Lindsey Wilson 6

Campbellsville scored five runs in their first at-bat, staking starter Taylor Wroe to a nice lead. Paragon's three-run home run was big in the frame and chased LWC starter Amanda Trampe.

But Lindsey would score two in its half of the inning and tied the game in the bottom of the fourth at 6-all.

Both teams went scoreless for three innings and weathered a rain delay before CU ignited its fireworks in the eighth.

Before the game-winners, Paragon's second home run in the third inning pushed CU's lead to 6-2 before Lindsey Wilson started to crawl back.

Wroe gave way to Decker in the fourth. Wroe was touched for seven hits and four runs and Decker three hits and two runs before Riney (2-3) came in and pitched three scoreless innings to earn the win. Game one's winner, Casey Bryan (14-2), took the loss in game two, giving up four hits and five runs in her one inning of work.

Paragon's three hits led the CU attack and was supported by two-hit games by Shelby Ray, Black and Rippy. Oakley and Adrean Jordan both had one hit.

CU continues conference play Wednesday, April 9 when it travels to Williamsburg, Ky. for a make-up doubleheader with the University of the Cumberlands at 3 p.m. ET.
