CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Lady Tiger volleyball dropped to 0-3 in the Mid-South Conference Saturday, suffering a three-set loss to Shawnee State University (25-22, 25-20, 25-21) in Powell Athletic Center.
Campbellsville (3-7, 0-3 MSC) led 10-7 in the first set, but the Bears scored three straight to even the score. Tied 14-14, Shawnee State once again used a small run, this time four points, to pull away in the first set.
Shawnee (8-4, 1-1 MSC) put away the second set scoring five of the last seven points.
The Lady Tigers battled in the third set, nearly point-for-point, until the Bears flipped a 13-11 deficit into a 15-13 lead. CU pushed back late to tie the set, 21-21, but Shawnee State scored the last four points on a pair of CU errors and kills by Paige Zelich and Devan Scarberry.
Zelich led SSU with 11 kills, while Jade Nelson led CU with 11 kills in her CU home debut. Annija Abolina had nine kills, Jana Kortas six and Brooklyn Bowling five.
Krista Mihelsone played the entire match at setter for CU with 32 assists.
Campbellsville goes right back on the road with another conference match with the University of Pikeville on Tuesday, Sept. 16. The Junior varsity team will start the action at 5 p.m. EDT, followed by the varsity at 7.
