Box Score OAKLAND CITY, Ind. — Campbellsville men's soccer could not overcome a 2-0 first half deficit and dropped its third game of the season Saturday afternoon. NCAA Division II foe Oakland City University defeated the Tigers, 3-2.
BOX SCORE
Ben Eklof and Conor Feistead both gave the Blazers a 2-0 lead in the first half. The duo was able to collect and finish missed shots just outside the box to put OCU up early.
Campbellsville (6-3, 1-1 MSC) went into the half trailing for just the third time this season. Oakland City (5-2) took control, and it was the first time this season the Tigers were down by more than one goal at the intermission.
Campbellsville played a man down for most of the second half after Maurizio Infante was issued a red card in the 57th minute.
But CU responded in the 66th minute with a score. Marcelo Petit was fouled inside the 18-yard box and was warranted a penalty kick. Petit finished with a booming goal past the OCU goalkeeper, Conor McGoldrick, for his second PK in as many games.
The Blazers then took a 3-1 lead off another Feistead goal. But this time it turned out to be the game winner. He received a pass on a corner kick from Graeme Campbell and headed the ball past CU goalkeeper Josh Hollis.
Roraigh Yearwood gave the Tigers life in the 85th minute with his sixth goal of the season. He was able to collect a CU miss and finish from just outside the penalty box.
Hollis picked up eight saves in the loss with McGoldrick saving five in the OCU win.
With the loss, Campbellsville has now lost two straight games for the first time since September 2012.
