"Overall it was a learning experience for us today," said CU head coach Kim Goodin. "We are down on ourselves as a team because we wanted to win our home tournament and show that we are one of the top teams in the conference. But it is still a great day to be a Lady Tiger."

Carter, a freshman from Scottsville, Ky., shot 81-80 (161, +17) in the two-day tournament. She outlasted teammate Anna Marie Hyatt and two Cumberland Bulldog golfers, Katie Legge and Abbey Burgdorf, by one stroke.

"We are extremely proud of Rachel and what she accomplished this week," said Goodin. "This speaks volums about her potential as a collegiate golfer. I am excited to see what the future will hold for Rachel but also for the rest of the younger players in the program."

Hyatt finished with a 162 (79-83) total and Olivia Parrott finished tied for sixth with a 167 (81-86). Freshman Taylor Phelps came back strong in the second round and shaved off eight strokes from round one to finish tied for ninth place (168).

Sophomores Ashley Goodin (170) and Cassidy Scantland (172) finished tied for 11th and 14th place, respectively.

Mikayla Smith, the lone senior of the young Campbellsville team, finished in a tie for 19th place with a two-day total of 179 (90-89).

Kellimae Polston (188) and Grace Gupton (188) rounded out the Lady Tigers as individuals.
