GEORGETOWN, Ky. — Georgetown used long point runs to distance itself from Campbellsville, dispatching the Lady Tigers in three sets tonight, 25-14, 25-17 and 25-17.
Campbellsville (2-2, 0-1 MSC) did not lead in the match until the third set, when it took a 5-0 lead. But a timeout by Georgetown (2-3, 1-0 MSC) reversed that advantage. An eight-point run in the middle of the set put the Tigers up 22-14 after CU had tied it at 14-all.
The third set had six ties, the last at 14-14.
In set two, Campbellsville closed within 6-5 after losing the set's first three points. But Georgetown built leads of 13-6 and 20-14 before GC scored five of the set's last eight points.
The Lady Tigers leave Thursday for the Viterbo University Volleyball Tournament in LaCrosse, Wisc. where they will play four matches in two days.
CU meets Clarke University at 4 p.m. Friday and then plays the host school, Viterbo (No. 15) at 8:00. On Saturday, Campbellsville has a 10 a.m. match with Bellevue and at 2:00 meets Haskell University.
