Parrott fifth, CU second after Bill Sergent opening round

LONDON, Ky. – Campbellsville University women's golf sits in second place after day one of the Bill Sergent Invitational at Crooked Creek Golf Community. The Lady Tigers (326) are 12 strokes behind Cumberland University (314) in the first round.

After a rain delay to start the round, play was suspended for darkness Thursday evening with Indiana Wesleyan University, Brescia University and Midway College each needing to complete their final three holes.

Olivia Parrott led CU on the first day and is tied for fifth with a 79 and is only two strokes behind leader Rachel Pingleton (77) of Cumberland University. Anna-Marie Hyatt and Cassidy Scantland both shot 81 to tie for eighth place. Rachel Carter (16th, 84), Ashley Goodin (21st, 85) and Grace Gupton (33rd, 89) round out CU's lineup.

Lindsey Wilson College (330), Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Atlanta (335) and Union College (339) follow Cumberland and Campbellsville. IWU, Brescia and Midway will complete their first round Friday morning at 8 a.m. ET. Round two will follow.
