Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Twenty-five Campbellsville University men's soccer players saw action Thursday night in the Tigers' 9-0 soccer home-opening win over Kentucky Christian University at Finley Stadium.
The win moves CU to 4-0 to start the season for the third straight year.
CU had a 5-0 lead in the first half, due largely to a hat trick by Marcelo Petit, who took over the lead for most CU goals and goals in the Mid-South Conference, now with six.
Gustav Carlsson also found the net in the first 16 minutes.
Dylon Speirs made his CU debut and scored in the 34th minute off an assist by Ross Lindsay, but his first appearance was cut short with a red card in the 62nd minute.
Lindsay, Guilherme Cheng, Xavier Martinez and Samuel Gonzeles each scored in the second half.
Alex Ryan, Roraigh Yearwood, Ryan Foster, Adam Fridell, Lindsay, Shane Buchanan and Adam Linderholm each had assists in the win.
Nestor Escobar recorded his fourth win in goal after playing the first 25:35. Josh Hollis made his debut late in the first half and played the remaining 64:25. He had one save, as KCU was held to three shots and only one on goal.
CU's three shutouts in the first four games of the season are the most by the Tigers in at least a decade.
KCU keeper Christopher McQuistion stopped 12 of CU's 21 shots on goal. The Tigers had a total of 36 shots in the game.
Campbellsville (4-0) will travel to Winona Lake, Ind., Saturday to meet Grace College at 5 p.m. ET.Â
