Box Score WINONA LAKE, Ind. – The Campbellsville Tigers were unable to recover from a two goal first-half deficit Saturday, falling at Grace University, 2-0.
Grace scored its game-winning goal in the 17th minute off an assist from Trent Smith to Jonathan Sands. Campbellsville managed only two shots in the first half, including one on goal by Alex Higdon. The Lancers struck again with 40 seconds left before halftime on a goal by Zack Tucker.
In the second half, Roraigh Yearwood's shot on goal in the 48th minute was CU's only shot until late in the game.
Campbellsville increased its attach in the final 11 minutes, collecting back-to-back shots on goal by Gustav Carlsson and Samuel Gonzalez. Carlsson had another chance to cut the Lancers' lead in half, but the shot was blocked by Grace keeper Robbie Barnhill in the 83rd minute and Alex Ryan had a shot on goal cleared by a defender in the 84th minute.
Barnhill collected four saves in his third shutout of the season for Grace.
Josh Hollis received his first start in goal for the Tigers, collected three saves and allowing two goals.
CU (4-1) will return home Tuesday, Sept. 9 to host Brescia University at 8 p.m. in Finley Stadium.Â
