CUWS remains undefeated with 2-0 win at No. 24 Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Ky. — Lady Tiger soccer remained undefeated after a 2-0 win over No. 24 Georgetown (Ky.) tonight at Toyota Stadium.

No. 16 Campbellsville had two goals – one in each half to knock off its Mid-South Conference rival. The Lady Tigers move to a perfect 14-0 and 5-0 inside the conference to sit atop the standings.

Both teams were very similar in the first half with Georgetown (9-2-3) coming out swinging first. CU goalkeeper Amanda Howard recorded three saves in the opening 20 minutes to keep the game scoreless.

Howard finished with six saves for her ninth shutout of the season. Howard came into the game ranked No. 1 in the NAIA allowing 0.400 goals per game.

Campbellsville took a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute after a corner kick from Kathryn Thomas. Chelsea Gill found Carson Cline off a deflected kick into the box to put CU ahead.

Campbellsville started to take control from there. After being ahead 1-0 at the half, the Lady Tigers outshot Georgetown 8-3 in the second half but only two were on goal.

The biggest shot on goal of the night came in the 81st minute when Rachel Veatch rebounded a miss from Mhairi Fyfe to score her 12th goal of the season to seal the victory.

Campbellsville finished with 14 shots compared to GC's eight. Danielle Lang registered seven saves in the Georgetown loss.

The Lady Tigers remain the only team in the NAIA to be undefeated and have now outscored opponents 57-5.

Campbellsville hosts Brescia (Ky.) on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 4 p.m. at Finley Stadium and Citizens Bank Field.
