Lady Tigers win on senior night, 6-0

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Four seniors went out the only way they know how - a 6-0 shutout. Kathryn Thomas, Aris Kuntz, Rachel Veatch and Morgan Danis were honored on Saturday night after defeating non-conference foe Brescia University, 6-0.

The four seniors have helped Campbellsville (15-0, 4-0 MSC) continue its perfect season by outscored opponents 63 to 5 and registering 11 shutouts.

Campbellsville has now won three consecutive senior night games by a margin of 16-0.  The four seniors have helped bring CU women's soccer to the national spotlight with its highest ranking ever (No. 16) and breaking 10-plus team records the past two seasons.

Junior Mhairi Fyfe stole a little spotlight early scoring two of her three goals in the first 5:19 - fellow junior Devon Burnside assisted the second goal. Fyfe scored again in the 43rd minute for her third hat trick of the season to put CU ahead, 4-0. Fyfe has now scored 24 goals in 2015 to tie last years single-season record.

Before Fyfe's third goal, Chelsea Gill scored off a corner kick from Erica McWilliams in the 28th minute to put CU ahead, 3-0.

CU capitalized on another corner kick but this team it was the seniors hooking up. Kuntz found Danis and the Lady Tigers went ahead 5-0 in the 54th minute.

McWilliams finished the scoring in the 67th minute, finding the net for her first goal of the season.

Goalkeeper Amanda Howard did not record a save but gave way to Laura Poe in the final 10 minutes to combined for CU's NAIA leading 11th team shutout.

Campbellsville will now entertain No. 1 Lindsey Wilson College (9-1-2, 4-0 MSC) in the Battle of Highway 55 on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. ET. The Lady Tigers and Blue Raiders will be playing for first place in the Mid-South Conference standings.
