PANAMA CITY, Fla. — The Lady Tigers shot a combined 15-over par on the second hole of their front nine today, setting the tempo for an opening round 343 at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Tournament.

Playing at the Hombre Golf Club, CU still managed a second place finish in the nine-team field, 23 shots behind tournament leader Dallas Baptist (320). There are 36 holes remaining in the three-day tourney.

"This course is a beast for women," said coach Kim Goodin. "All scores ran high. Dallas Baptist has won here before and they are NCAA Division II, so they are suppose to win."

Cassidy Scantland managed three birdies, the most by any player in the field, in her opening-round 81 (40-41), but canceled them out with an equal number of double bogeys. She is in fourth place behind three Dallas Baptist players who are led by first-day medalist Christian Curnutte's 78.

Anna-Marie Hyatt shot 43-42 for her opening-round 85 and is in a tie for ninth, while Olivia Parrott turned in an 88 (45-43) good for 16^th place.

Freshman Michaela Jarman rallied from a front-nine 46 to shoot 43 on the back for a first-day 89. Fellow Freshman Kylie Withrow shot 90 (44-46) over the 5905-yard layout. Jarman is in 15^th place and Withrow sits in a tie for 16^th.

As a team, Campbellsville played the par 5s better than anyone else at 11 over par.
