PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Last year when the Lady Tigers finished fifth at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Tournament, coach Kim Goodin said she hoped her team could compete for the title when her sophomores are seniors.
The team may be on an accelerated schedule, inching up the NCCAA leaderboard and taking home the runner-up trophy in the nine-team 2015 field at the Hombre Golf Club.
"We improved our score each day which I was proud of considering we played a long 6000-plus yards today and shot 12 strokes better than day one," said Goodin. "I was pleased with our performance. It's OK to be a little ahead of schedule."
CU shot a three-day total of 1,011 to finish 68 strokes behind tournament winner NCAA DII Dallas Baptist, which ran away with the winner's trophy with a score of 943. The Patriots had five players to finish in the Top 6.
Cassidy Scantland crashed the sweep, slipping in at No. 4 with a final round 77 (39-38) and received mention on the All-American Tournament Team. Olivia Parrott, who shot 84 on the final day for a 254 total and outright ninth place, joined Scantland on the All-Tournament squad.
Anna-Marie Hyatt shot 84 (258) for 11th place and her freshmen teammates, Kylie Withrow and Michaela Jarman, shot 88 and 86, respectively for at tie for 13th and 19th, respectively, in the 47-player field.
