Box Score

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — For the first time in program history, Campbellsville University men's soccer is Mid-South Conference champions. The Tigers won the outright title tonight with a 13-nil victory over University of Pikeville.

BOX SCORE

No. 18 Campbellsville finishes the regular season with a 15-2 overall record and a perfect slate in the Mid-South (7-0) and at home (8-0). At Finley Stadium this season, the Tigers and Lady Tigers put together an impressive home record of 16-1.

CU also ends the regular season with an 11-game win streak. During that stretch, the Tigers have outscored their opponents, 46-3. Overall, Campbellsville has outscored foes, 69-11.

The Tigers are now the one-seed in the upcoming Mid-South Conference tournament, which starts on Thursday, Nov. 5 at Lovers Lane Park in Bowling Green, Ky. CU will take on this same Pikeville team at 1 p.m. ET to kickoff the tournament.

"There is so much more for this team to do," said coach Adam Preston. "In a month, the retrospect will be powerful and meaningful but we have bigger goals than just a conference regular season championship. We have the support of a program that dates back over 20 years. We owe it to ourselves, to the ones who came before us and to everyone who supports us to do something greater. I am so proud to be a part of this program and university. And especially proud of my guys and what they have accomplished this year. But we are not done yet."

It didn't take long for the Tigers to get on the scoreboard. Ryan Foster scored on an assist by Alex Ryan to put CU ahead 1-0 in the second minute.

Foster then hit Shane Buchanan for the Tigers second score in the 15th minute and 20 seconds after that Buchanon found Guilherme Cheng to put Campbellsville ahead, 3-0.

The scoring kept coming in bunches with Cheng finding Marco Galeano in the 27th minute for the first of his four goals on the night.

Just before halftime, Joao Gomiero got in on the act and scored off a pass from Diego Morales to put CU ahead in the 44th minute, 5-0.

The second half was much like the first, Campbellsville out-playing the Bears in every facet of the game with mostly its reserves getting playing time. Maurizio Infante scored in the 48th minute to add on to the Tigers lead, 6-0. Then Galeano scored his second and third goals within a 4:02 span. The second goal was off a free kick from Kai Senoo.

Galeano shared the ball with his teammates as well, hitting Morales for his lone goal of the night in the 62nd minute to put CU ahead 10-0.

In the 68th minute, Galeano scored his fourth goal to push the Tigers lead to 11-0.

in the 74th minute, Pikeville fouled a David Larrson in the box and he capitalized on the PK, with his first career goal. Rickard Hallin completed the onslaught with his second career goal in the 85th minute.

Goalkeepers Gonzalo Sapena and Josh Hollis shared the shutout with Hollis recording three saves in the second period.

Campbellsville was able to rest many key starters for the majority of the game, playing 24 players in total.
