CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Senior Day is always special but Saturday had a little more meaning to it. Fourth-ranked Campbellsville ran away from rival Georgetown College, 74-59, to finish its home schedule a perfect 13-0.

BOX SCORE

The seniors, Chelsea Craig, Daizah Kimberland, Lindey Young and Caroline Owen, played in their final home game and combined for 36 points. Craig led the squad with 13 points, and Owen finished behind her with 11.

Owen stole the show in the second half with three-straight 3s to spark the Lady Tigers to a huge lead out of halftime.

"These seniors have been great," said head coach Ginger Colvin. "They are amazing on and off the court and have represented Campbellsville really well."

Young finished with six points and Kimberland finished with three. Kimberland's lone points came at a crucial moment in the game when Georgetown started to chip away at the big CU lead. GC went on a 10-0 run midway through the second half, but Kimberland brought the crowd to its feet with a deep 3-pointer with the shot clock running out. The swish put CU up 65-56 with 5:20 left and Campbellsville continued to role from there on.

"The beauty of our team is that we never know who is going to make the big plays," said Colvin. "Daizah hitting that 3 late in the shot clock really showed that. We are successful because of the depth and the balance we are able to throw out there."

The Lady Tigers shot a blistering 52.2 percent (25-of-47) from the floor and 6-of-13 (46.2 percent) from the arc. CU also shot 18-of-24 (75 percent) from the free throw line.

Campbellsville never trailed from the start after Craig picked up two-straight misses and hit a layup giving the Lady Tigers a 2-0 lead She led CU with five rebounds along with Kristen Jacob.

Young put the CU Lady Tigers up 30-12 with 9:01 left but CU had a few sloppy minutes, going scoreless until 4:02 left in the first half. Campbellsville went into intermission leading 41-26.

Owen then stole the show and brought the packed Powell Athletic Center crowd to its feet, knocking down all three of her 3s (3-for-5) in the second half, and Campbellsville continued to push the pedal to floor. Owen also finished with three assists, including a no-look assist to Jacob to push CU up by 25 points, 61-36.

CU scored 30 points in the paint, but Georgetown was able to match that. Although CU dominated the entire game, the rebounds evened out late in the game. Campbellsville grabbed 33 and Georgetown recorded 27.

With 1:30 left, Colvin inserted the seniors for them all to finish their final game on the court.

"This group has been special and will be successful in anything they do," said Colvin. "We are blessed that they chose Campbellsville."

Campbellsville will now play at 2 p.m. EST on Thursday, March 5 in the Mid-South Conference Tournament Quarterfinals. The tournament will be played at the Frankfort Convention Center in Frankfort, Ky.
