BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Campbellsville Lady Tiger Bowling took the first day of the Mid-South Conference Championships by a storm as they competed in Singles & Doubles play Friday.
Chelsey Stephens, ranked 11
th in the regular-season MSC standings, took second place in singles play. Just 57 pins shy of Pikeville's Megan Hedgspeth, who won the singles competition. Stephens totaled 983 pins on the day. She earned individual highs for games one and two with scores of 246 and 216, respectively. Freshman
Crystal Land followed closely behind the senior as she knocked down 951 pins for a fifth place finish.
Also in the Top 20 was CU's
Keysha Martin, who took 12
th place with a total of 915 pins.
Emily Florence tied with Jade Sewell of University of the Cumberlands for 22
nd place after both totaled 853 pins. Other CU finishes in the field of 56 were
Kaylee Kaminski and
Kylah Martin (tied for 39
th, 764),
Ashley Newman (tied for 41
st, 757), and
Haley Roehl (tied for 51
st, 723).
Stephens and Land combined to win the doubles competition, beating three Pikeville pairs to take the top spot. Stephens/Land totaled 1,934 pins, topping second place UPike's score by 20 pins. They earned team high scores for four out of the five games, totaling 403 pins in game three.
Sisters Keysha and
Kylah Martin took 11
th for CU in doubles play, finishing with 1,679 pins to tie with Bethel University. Kaminski and Florence totaled 1,617 pins for 17
th place, and the pair of Roehl/Newman finished in 25
th with 1,480 points.
The team champion will be determined in the double-elimination team tournament to take place Saturday, Feb. 7.
