Lady Tiger Golf tied for second at Crooked Creek

LONDON, Ky. — Campbellsville shook off some rust today during the first round of the two-day Southeast Kentucky Invitational (SEKI) hosted by the University of the Cumberlands at the Crooked Creek Golf Club, just not hardly enough.

Round one results

Lady Tiger golfers fired an opening round 328, paced by an 80 (42-38) from Cassidy Scantland, putting CU in a tie for second  place in the eight-team field, but only six shots out of first.

Scantland's round places her in seventh in the 46-player field.

It was the first tournament of the spring for Campbellsville after nearly everyone in the NAIA scrambled for practice time during February and early March.

"I'm not surprised since we have only played one nine-hole round as team this winter," said coach Kim Goodin. "Even at that, I think we should have had a better round in us."

Olivia Parrott shot 81 (40-41) and a tie for eighth, Rachel Carter 83 (42-41) and Anna Marie Hyatt 83 (44-40) completed CU's four-player scores, ties for 13th and T16th, respectively. Ashley Goodin shot 89 (43-46) and Mikayla Smith, playing as an individual, shot 92 (44-48).

Scantland had three birdies in her round, two on her back nine when she was two over. As a team CU went seven over on their last four holes after briefly holding down second place.

Lincoln Memorial's Michaela Conway was Day 1 medalist with a 77.

Round two will be played tomorrow. The Lady Tigers will tee off starting at 10:10 p.m. EDT.
