LONDON, Ky. — Campbellsville's Cassidy Scantland, playing after an injury- riddled fall, fired a second-round 76 and won the Southeast Kentucky Invitational (SEKI) in a one-hole playoff at the Crooked Creek Golf Club.
SECOND ROUND RESULTS
Scantland tied for first with Lincoln Memorial's Michaela Conway, who led Scantland by three shots after the first round. On the first playoff hole, Conway missed a short par putt and Scantland tapped in for the win, her first of the 2014-15 season. She won six times as a freshman. As a team Campbellsville shot three strokes worse on the second day, falling out of a second-place tie into third in the eight-team field with a team total of 659.
The Lady Tigers trailed by six shots after the first round, but Tuesday's play cost them ground on both first-place Lincoln Memorial (644) and runner-up and host University of the Cumberlands (651).
Scantland, a sophomore from Greensburg, Ky., had three birdies during her round. No other Lady Tiger recorded a birdie during the second round.
Freshman Rachel Carter, Scottsville, Ky., shot an 82 (40-42) for a 165 total good for 12th place.
Olivia Parrott 87 (45-42 — 168) tied for 17th; Anna Marie Hyatt 86 (42-44 — 170) 19th place; Ashley Goodin 88 (44-44 — 177) T31; and Mikayla Smith 89 (43-46 — 181) T33.
The team winner, Lincoln Memorial, had three players to place in the top five.
The Lady Tigers play next on March 30-31 at the Mid-South Conference Spring Invitational at Stonecrest Golf Club in Prestonsburg, Ky.
