MT. JULIET, Tenn. — (RESULTS) Campbellsville men's golf battled through the weather conditions and finished in third place at the Cumberland University Bulldog Invitational at Windtree Golf Club.
Host Cumberland University won  the tournament with a total score of 571 (283-288). University of Pikeville finished second with a 582 total (291-291) and the Tigers finished right behind them with a score of 591 (292-299).
Michael Newton finished one stroke short of tying low medalist Ryan Botts. Newton fired 69-72 (141) and placed in a tie for second with Tyler Smith from Pikeville, Phil Leahy from Berry College and Austin Williams from Cumberland University.
James Higgins finished in a tie for 12th place with after shooting, 72-74. Dalton Olson improved on his first round score of 78 with a second round, 73. He finished in tied for 23rd. Wade Cave (73-80) and John Eastridge (78-84) finished in 26th and 30th, respectively to round out the Tigers.
Freed-Hardeman was the lone non Mid-South Conference team in the field and fired a team score of 288 to tie Cumberland for low round on the day. The Lions could not make up enough ground, though, and finished in fourth place with a team score of 593 (305-288).
Campbellsville will now put its full attention to the Mid-South Conference Championships that start on Sunday, April 19. The three-round tournament will go from Sunday-Tuesday, April 21 at Maywood Country Club in Bardstown, Ky. Live stats and updates will be available closer to the start of the tournament.
