BARDSTOWN, Ky. — For the second-straight season, Campbellsville University women's golf finished behind University of the Cumberlands in the Mid-South Conference Championship. The Lady Tigers finished in second place with a team score of 945 in the three rounds.
University of the Cumberlands won its fourth consecutive championship with a team score of 922 in the three rounds. Rachel Pingleton won the individual conference championship, after leading the tournament from start to finish, with a score of 227. Teammate Kaitlyn Riley finished in second and was named MSC Freshman of the Year after carding a score of 229.
INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARD
2014 MSC Champion Cassidy Scantland and fellow sophomore Olivia Parrott led Campbellsville. The duo shot 235 apiece with matching 76's in the final round to finish in a tie for sixth.
Anna-Marie Hyatt carded a final round 80 to finish in ninth. Ashley Goodin, who sat behind Pingleton on the leaderboard after round one, finished with a final round 90. She was just outside the Top 10 in a tie for 11th.
The quartet for Campbellsville all finished with MSC honors. Scantland and Hyatt were named first team and Parrott and Goodin were named to the second-team.
All-conference teams are based on performances throughout the three MSC tournaments – fall MSC tournament, spring MSC tournament and the MSC Championship.
Freshman Rachel Carter was in the running with Riley for Freshman of the Year but recorded three rounds in the 80's. She shot a final round, 84 to finish in 18th place.
Mikayla Smith rounded out the Lady Tigers with a final round, 96 to finish in 28th place.
The Lady Tigers outlasted Cumberland University by four strokes to finish in second place.
