GULF SHORES, Ala. — (RESULTS) Five individuals represented Campbellsville University at the NAIA Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field National Championships this weekend.
It was the first time since 2012 for a men's competitor to qualify for the NAIA championship and fifth-straight year for the Lady Tigers.
Freshman Brianna Harman led the way with a 10th place finish in the javelin throw. Harman broke her own school record with a mark of 39.89-meters on Thursday afternoon.
Another Lady Tiger, JaNaiqua Horne, finished in 24th place in the women's triple jump. Horne a senior from Radcliff, Ky. jumped a mark of 5.09 meters and was behind the leaders by just 1.8-meters.
PJ Randles was the lone Tiger to compete in multiple events. Randles, also a senior from Radcliff, Ky. competed in the 110-meter hurdles and also the triple jump. Randles finished in the 110-meter hurdle prelims with a time of exact 15.00. He was just behind the leaders by only .68's of a second. In the triple jump, Randles finished in 17th place again with a mark of 13.54-meters.
Clayton Embry also competed in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing just behind Randles with a time of 15.62 seconds.
Demytreus Gipson was the final competitor in the field for Campbellsville. He ran in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 25th place with a time of 22.32 seconds.
The NAIA Championships was the final event of the year for Campbellsville outdoor track and field. The Tigers and Lady Tigers had over 20 school records broken in 2015.
Wayland Baptist dominated the women's field, scoring 91 points and winning the 2015 National Championship. Oklahoma Baptist (66) and British Columbia (55) finished second and third, respectively. On the men's side, Concordia (Neb.) brought home the title scoring 59 points. Wayland Baptist (55) and Indiana Tech (55) tied for second place.
