Box Score PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — (BOX) Campbellsville used monster performances from four players, collecting a team-high 61 kills, in subduing Shawnee State University tonight, 3-1 (25-20-20-25, 25-23 and 25-17).
Jana Kortas and Annija Abolina recorded double-doubles as Kortas picked up a match-high 18 kills to go along with 13 digs. Abolina had 12 kills and a career-high 17 digs. Chanel Raymundo added another career-high 14 kills and eight digs while setter Inoa Fields registered a career mark with 51 assists and 18 digs. The 51 assists for Fields is the highest mark for any Lady Tiger setter since Jackie Schweiger recorded 51 against Shawnee State on Oct. 26, 2013.
Campbellsville (1-1, 1-0 MSC) used a .432 attack percentage to hold off Shawnee State in the first set. Kortas, Abolina and Raymundo each had five kills in the first. The Lady Tigers cooled a bit in their attacks through the next three sets, ending with a .233 attack percentage compared to .178 for the Bears.
Shawnee (3-2, 0-1 MSC) evened the match with a 25-20 set two win. CU led 14-7 at one time in the set before committing eight errors in the set's final 15 points.
Campbellsville led the kill statistic 61-50 and had 12 more assists (56-44). The Lady Tigers also had 85 team digs compared to 76 for Shawnee State.
In a decisive set three, Kortas registered seven of her 18 kills.
Lauren Helbig led Shawnee with 16 kills. Christina Shelton and Briana Wiget had 12 and 11, respectively.
Maria Coelho and Brooklyn Bowling added 14 kills, seven apiece. Jessie Pendleton led the team in digs with 26 and had a solo kill in the middle of the fourth set that gave CU a 14-11 lead.
Campbellsville goes outside of conference this weekend with four matches in the Lindsey Wilson College Classic, Columbia, Ky. The Lady Tigers play Indiana Tech at 5:00 Thursday, Indiana-Kokomo and Brenau at 4:30 and 6:30, respectively, on Friday, and Grace College on Saturday at 11:00.
