Lady Tigers move up to third at Bill Sergent Invitational

LONDON, Ky. — Campbellsville wiped out a six-stroke deficit early in its Day-2 round at the Bill Sergent Invitational at Crooked Creek Golf Community, but faltered late and was edged out for tournament runner-up by Cumberland University.

Olivia Parrott and Cassidy Scantland fueled the early Day-2 charge. Parrott birdied her first hole, the par-3 11th, and stayed at one under for 17 holes, thanks to another birdie on the par-3 16th. But a bogey on her final hole gave her a team-low 73. Her two-day total of 150 was good for a third-place tie with Cumberland University's Morgan Stuckey in the 39-player field and also a spot on the All-Tournament team.

Scantland, with the help of two birdies, was even par through her first 11 holes, but went five over on the next four and wound up with a 78 for a two-day total of 155 and a tie for 11th.

Michaela Jarman added a 78 to her first-round 77 and finished at 157 and in a tie for 16th in her first collegiate tournament.

Anna-Marie Hyatt shot 79 for a two-day total of 160 to close out CU's scoring. She finished in a tie for 18th. Ashley Goodin shot 83, good for a 164 total.

Kylie Withrow, who was playing as an individual, added an 81 to her opening round 83 and tied for 23rd place.

Scantland led the team in birdies with three while Parrott, Hyatt and Jarman had two each. Withrow had one.

The University of the Cumberlands' Kaitlyn Riley finished one over par 143 (69-74) to take tournament medalist honors.

Team standings: University of the Cumberlands (601), Cumberland University (619) Campbellsville (622), Lindsey Wilson (636), Midway (687) and Union College (687).
