COLUMBIA, Ky. — After the first round of the Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raider Classic, Campbellsville men's golf sits in fourth place at just eight strokes behind the leader.
The Tigers fired an opening round 291 (+7) and are behind the leader Indiana Wesleyan (283). Union College and host Lindsey Wilson are tied for second after opening rounds of 287.
Freshman
Justin Warman led CU with an opening round one-under 70. Warman led the field with seven birdies in the first round and took advantage of the par fives at The Pines (-4) to sit in fourth place.
Justin Riffle was two strokes behind his teammate and fired a one-over 72. Riffle took advantage with 11 pars and three birdies throughout his round to sit in a six-way tie for 15
th place.
Playing as an individual,
Tristan Blevins shot a one-over 72 as well. He went two-under on the par fives but played the par threes at one-over, while finishing with five birdies.
Upperclassmen
Tyler Harrod and
James Higgins shot 74 and 75 to sit in a tie for 23
rd and 27
th, respectively. Harrod played the par-fives at two-under and finished the opening round with five birdies, while Higgins had four birdies.
The second Tiger playing as an individual was
Seito Miyazaki competing in his first collegiate tournament. Miyazaki finished with a four birdies and played the par-threes at one-under to shoot a 75.
Rounding out the Tigers was freshman Javen Thomas. He sits in a tie for 43
rd after an opening round 78.
Indiana Wesleyan has a pair of golfers at the top of the leaderboard, as Jake Coffey leads after the first round with a four-under 67. Patrick Hardy is tied for second with Georgia Military College's Patrick Hardy with a two-under 69.
