COLUMBIA, Ky. — Men's golf dropped back six strokes on Day 2 of the Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raider Classic and finished in fourth place.
The Tigers shot 291-297 (588) in the two-day Classic to finish at 20-over par. Host Lindsey Wilson rallied with the best round of the tournament – a five-under 279 – to jump Indiana Wesleyan for championship honors. The Wildcats finished five strokes back (283-288, 571), while Tennessee Wesleyan (292-288, 580) was eight strokes ahead of Campbellsville in third.
A pair of freshman finished in the Top 15 along with the elder of the two
James Higgins.
Tristan Blevins, who was tied for 15
th to start the second round and playing as an individual, rallied to finish tied or 10
th, shooting 72-73 (+3).
Fellow rookie
Justin Warman and Higgins finished in a three-way tie for 13
th. Higgins overcame a four-over 75 in round one to shoot an even-par 71 today. Warman, who was tied for fourth place after Day 1, dropped six shots to shoot 70-76.
Tyler Harrod and
Justin Riffle also had matching scores with six-over 148's. Harrod improved six spots on the leaderboard by firing 74-74 both rounds, while Riffle dropped four strokes, shooting 72-76.
Rounding out Campbellsville's seven golfers was freshmen
Javin Thomas 78-79 and
Seito Miyazaki 75-82.
Federico Navarro from Lindsey Wilson came alive today, finishing with a six-under 65. He went 71-65 and won a playoff over Indiana Wesleyan's Jake Coffey to claim medalist honors.
Campbellsville returns to the links this weekend, as the Tigers travel to Portsmouth, Ohio to play in the Shawnee State University Classic on from Saturday, Oct. 15-Monday, Oct. 17.
