Tovar and Hare lead Lady Tigers past UPIKE, 2-0

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — It took 82 minutes but Campbellsville women's soccer scored twice in the final eight minutes to pick up their first conference win, 2-0, over the Pikeville Bears.

Lakin Walls found Valeska Tovar in the 83rd minute to break a scoreless tie and Campbellsville (9-6, 1-4 MSC) would add on just a few ticks later with Anne Hare's goal in the 88th to down the Bears (6-10, 0-6 MSC).

Tovar, who was starting in her fifth game this season, picked up her third score of the year, while the defender Hare netted her first of the season and third of her career. Walls earned her team-leading sixth assist with the pass leading to Tovar's goal.

In a game that had a constant-nagging rain saw five yellow cards awarded – two for CU and three for UPIKE. The Lady Tigers dominated every facet of the game registering 17 shots – 11 on goal – compared to UPIKE's one shot that was not on frame.

Walls and Tovar led the Lady Tigers with four shots and three on goal, while Rachel Mobley, who also earned a start for CU today, finished with three shots and two on goal.

CU's Amanda Howard collected her sixth shutout of the season and 25th of her career. UPIKE's Bryanna Schroers finished with a career-high nine saves.

Campbellsville is now in sixth place in the standings with two conference matches remaining.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 25 for Senior Night, as the Lady Tigers welcome the newest Mid-South Conference member, Life University, to Finley Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET. Live video and stats will be provided on CampbellsvilleTigers.com.

CU ends its regular season on Friday, Oct. 28 at the University of the Cumberlands at 5 p.m. ET.
