Lady Tiger soccer rolls on senior night over Life University

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Seniors Chelsea Gill and Jade Perry scored goals, while Devon Burnside and Erica McWilliams assisted on another on their senior night to lead the Lady Tigers past Life University, 3-0.

Gill, Perry, McWilliams and Burnside celebrated senior night with teammate Laura Poe – who made her first-career start - in style as Campbellsville dominated its competition by recording 36 shots compared to six for Life.

The five seniors were a major factor in putting Campbellsville (10-6, 2-4 MSC) women's soccer on the map at the national level. As sophomores, these Lady Tigers reached the NCCAA National Championship for the first time in 2014 and backed that up with its first-ever NAIA Championship appearance in their junior years, In the last four years, these five Lady Tigers have recorded a 45-26-2 record for a winning percentage of .616.

Tonight Campbellsville kept possession on their side of the field, as Burnside found Madeline Bartley for the games first goal in the 25th minute.

Just before the halftime intermission, Anne Hare served a free kick into the box and Gill used a header to put the Lady Tigers ahead 2-0.

Capping off the night was a pair of seniors working together to put CU ahead, 3-0. McWilliams crossed a beauty into the box that found the foot of Perry for her third-career goal.

Co-captain Amanda Howard did not start tonight but played in 88 minutes and recorded four saves. The team shutout is the eighth of the season and second-straight for the Lady Tigers.

Life's Desiree Kuhn, who came into the match leading the Mid-South in saves with 183, recorded 15 tonight for her 11th double-digit save mark on the season. Kuhn leads the MSC goalkeepers with 100-plus more saves than the next student-athlete.

The Lady Tigers are currently in sixth place in the Mid-South Conference standings (2-4), while University of the Cumberlands is one game ahead at 3-3. Campbellsville will now have three days to prepare for the Patriots, as the Lady Tigers travel to Williamsburg, Ky. on Friday, Oct. 28. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET.
