PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Comparing the first two rounds of the NCCAA Men's Golf National Championship for Campbellsville, it was a tale of two teams. The Tigers fired the second-lowest round of the tournament today to just make the cut.
As a team, the Tigers fired a 303 with four scores in the 70s to improve 24 strokes from yesterday's opening round. The cutline was ninth and Campbellsville (630) currently sits in eight place just 20 strokes behind the leader Colorado Christian (610).
Dallas Baptist (613) is in second, while Southern Wesleyan and Grace College are tied for third (616).
Three Tigers led Campbellsville is the second round, as
Justin Warman,
Tristan Blevins and Robbie Johnson all finished with three-over 75s.
After an opening round 80, Warman is currently tied for 18
th. Throughout his round today, Warman fell victim to a triple and double bogey on the front nine but rallied with three of his four birdies on the back.
Johnson is tied for 26
th with teammate
James Higgins after an impressive second round. In his front nine, Johnson birdied five of the first six holes but a quadruple bogey on the par four 16
th hole killed his momentum for a strong finish.
Blevins is tied for 33
rd after an even-keel round. He finished with 15 pars, one birdie and one bogey but a triple on the par four 12
th pushed him back to three-over par.
The last Tiger in the 70s today was
Justin Riffle. He carded a six-over 78 and is tied for 42
nd place. Lastly, after a first round 78, Higgins came back with an 81 today to sit tied for 26
th.
Tate Fleming and Taylor Suggs lead the individual tournament after two rounds. Fleming has shot 73-73, while Suggs' 75-71 has put both at two-over par.
Campbellsville will tee off in the final round of the NCCAA National Championship tomorrow morning starting at 7 a.m. ET.
