BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Campbellsville picked a bad time to misplace its offense, losing today to Georgetown College in the semifinal of the Mid-South Conference Championship at South Warren High School, 25-10, 25-22, 25-16.
The Lady Tigers (25-12) hit a season-low .009, committed 24 errors — nine more than their opponent.
No. 2 seed Georgetown (29-6), on the other hand, hit .226 and held a 39-25 kill advantage during the 64-minute match.
After drawing to a 4-4 tie in the first set, Georgetown broke open the set with a 9-1 run and pulled away, scoring 12 of the next 18 points.
Campbellsville had a shot to win the second set to even the match at 1-1. Leading 22-21 after a
Jessie Stone kill and a service ace by
Katie Johnson, the Lady Tigers committed five consecutive errors to give the set back, 25-22.
In the third, Campbellsville fell behind 9-5 and could never get any closer.
Annija Abolina led CU with eight kills,
Maria Coelho had five and
Julia Fonseca had four.
Inoa Fields had 20 assists and
Ashlyn Flock and
Jessie Pendleton had eight and seven digs, respectively.
The final, pitting No. 1-seed Lindsey Wilson College and No. 2 -eed Georgetown will be held Saturday, Nov. 12 at 3 p.m. ET at South Warren High School.
Campbellsville will now await its fate of receiving an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament. CU is currently scheduled to host an NCCAA Mid-East Regional match vs. Bluefield College on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m.
