BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Cumberland University scored once in both halves to knock Campbellsville women's soccer out of the Mid-South Conference tournament, 2-0.
The Phoenix picked up an early 1-0 lead in the 27
th minute as Connie Awuku-Darkoh uncorked a scoreless draw off a pass from Mariah Aplin.
Cumberland (11-3-2) was able to keep possession for most part of the first half recording 10 shots with half of them being on goal. The Lady Tigers were only able to muster four first-half shots but none were on goal.
The second half was much of the same for Cumberland. The Phoenix capitalized on a corner kick in the 60
th minute to take a 2-0 lead. Rebecca Holloway sent a corner kick into the box and Campbellsville's
Amanda Howard deflected it right to Kaitlen Kisiloski where she netted her first career goal.
Howard had a busy night in goal finishing with a season-high 11 saves.
The Lady Tigers had a prime opportunity to pick up their first score early in the second half.
Rachel Mobley missed a shot high in the 50
th minute and
Lakin Walls had a shot saved by Ashley Kambeitz in the 52
nd.
Campbellsville falls to 10-7-1 on the season and will now look to compete in the National Christian College Athletic Association National Championship. CU will host a Mid-East Regional match with a date and time TBA. Stay tuned to
