Lady Tigers win, waiting to learn their fate at NCCAA Soccer

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Campbellsville defeated Central Christian College 2-1 today and will advance to the semifinals of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Championship at the Austin-Tindall Soccer Complex pending the result of a match in progress.

The Lady Tigers (11-7-2) finally broke a scoring drought that spanned four matches, two of them scoreless ties, and more than 400 minutes of play.

But in order to do that CU had to overcome a 1-0 deficit after Nikki Neal kicked in a Central goal in the 12th minute off an assist by Isabel Sierra.

Not more than three minutes later, Lakin Walls took a pass from Madison Kennedy and tied the score at 1-1. The match stayed that way for 63 minutes when Central Christian put a hard foul on Jade Perry in the box.  Jordan Stallings' resulting penalty kick proved to be the difference maker.

Central Christian ended its season 12-9-1.

Campbellsville dominated play the majority of play, holding a 12-5 advantage in shots and a 4-3 advantage on shots on goal.

Walls led the Lady Tigers with four shots, two on goal. Erica McWilliams, Andrea Burnside and Stallings had two shot apiece and Taylor Beals and Rachel McWilliams one shot apiece.

Amanda Howard was credited with two saves.

The Central Christian Tigers had five different players to make their shots.
