Game one - Campbellsville 3, Huntington 1 – Box Score

The Tigers used a three-run third inning to outlast Huntington in game one. Mike Castellano picked up a leadoff single and Riley Joyce reached on a sac bunt error to start the third. The Tigers continued to play small ball, as Carrera attempted a second bunt but placed a beauty down the third base line and reached on a hit to load the bases.

Solano delivered with an RBI single to score Castellano and Joyce to put the Tigers ahead 2-0. After two fly outs, Linares played add-on with a two-out single to centerfield to score Carrera.

Campbellsville used a trio of pitchers to hold Huntington to only five hits and one run in the home opener. Mario Morales (2-0) went five strong innings, allowing only three hits and strucking out six batters. He gave way to Justin Phillips in the sixth inning. Phillips allowed two hits and the lone Huntington run.

CU had a chance to play add-on in the bottom half of the sixth after Linares reached on a bunt single. Scott followed with a single but Linares was picked off first for the first out. Alex Echevarria also singled but was caught on the back end of a double steal to end the CU rally.

In the seventh, coach Beauford Sanders went to his closer Jake Pannunzio and for the second time this season, Pannunzio sat the lineup down in order and recorded his second save.

Brock Gower (0-1) went five innings for Huntington and allowed only five CU hits and two earned runs. Caleb Landrum saw action in the final inning, allowing two hits but working out of the jam in the sixth inning.

Game Two – Campbellsville 2, Huntington 1 – Box Score

Huntington's Tanner Wyse dominated the first five innings of game two, allowing only two Tiger hits.

The Foresters took a 1-0 lead in the third inning after starter Nick Morehead (2-0) allowed three singles in the inning. Michael Crowley delivered an RBI-single to score Dylan Henricks. But after the run by Huntington, Morehead went the final four innings, setting down 12 straight Foresters.

Campbellsville's offense stayed true to its approach and rallied in the sixth inning. For the second time today, Carrera started the inning with a single and was moved to second on a Solano sac bunt. Ketchen then delivered a big blow with a double down the left field line to knot the game at one.

Cody Erickson reached on a walk but was put out 6-4 on a fielders choice by Linares to put runners on the corners with two outs. Brett Hamilton then picked up his first Tiger hit – a game-winner – to score Ketchen and put the Tigers ahead, 2-1.

After a walk to pinch hitter Romello Carbuccia, DJ Moore came in to strike out Richard Ramirez to end the CU rally.

Morehead came back out and sat the Foresters down 1-2-3 in the seventh for the win. Morehead pitched a gem, allowing only five hits and striking out five in his second straight complete game.
