CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville got solid pitching and some timely hitting today, sweeping No. 15 Davenport 3-1 and 3-0 at Veterans Memorial Park.
The Lady Tigers (13-6) were really good in the circle as Victoria Decker and Neely Quint combined to pitch 14 innings of seven-hit ball. CU also saw freshmen Morgan Gailor and Madison Mudd pick up their first collegiate home runs.
GAME 1: Campbellsville 3, Davenport 1
Jacqueline Roof scored twice and Rebecca Miller picked up three RBIÂ on a 2-for-2 day at the plate to help support Victoria Decker (6-4).
Decker pitched seven innings of two-hit ball, walking three and striking out seven. She stranded eight Panthers.
Roof scored in the bottom of the first when she singled and went all the way to third on a two-base error on the right fielder.
Roof was at it again in the third, drawing a hit-by-pitch with one out. She and Shelby Ray scored on Miller's two RBIÂ single to left field.
Davenport picked up a run in the top of the seventh when Haley Obetts scored on Sarah Schneidenbach RBI ground out.
GAME 2: Campbellsville 3, Davenport 0
Neely Quint (7-2) used Jacqueline Roof's homer in the first inning and shut down Davenport (15-6) with a five-hitter, walking one and striking out six.
Madison Mudd led off the third with a home run that just cleared the left field fence. Morgan Gailor got in the act in the fifth when she hit a leadoff home run to center.
Mudd had two hits in game two as did Roof. Rebecca Miller hit safely to complete CU's six-hit attack.
Campbellsville hosts Brescia University Tuesday, March 15 with a 3 p.m. doubleheader at Veterans Memorial Park.
