CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville used a no-hitter by Victoria Decker and rode the bats of Morgan Gailor and Brianna Scott to sweep a doubleheader today over Brescia, 10-0, 4-1.
The Lady Tigers (15-6) are on a four-game win streak going into this weekend's Mid-South Conference opener against Lindsey Wilson.
GAME 1: Campbellsville 10, Brescia 0Â
Victoria Decker (7-4) threw a five-inning no-hitter and Campbellsville used the bat of Morgan Gailor to subdue Brescia today in the first game of a doubleheader, 10-0.
Decker struck out six in her five innings and hit one batter.
Gailor was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, the big knock being her second homer of the season, a two-run shot in the fourth with Katelyn Merritt aboard.
Seven Lady Tigers got in on the 11-hit attack. Pinch hitters Merritt and Kelly Wheeler both reached safely. Hailey Szpila, returning from injury, was 2-for-3 (2RBIs), and Jacqueline Roof was 2-for-3 (1 RBI). Adrean Jordan (RBI) and Brittany Rippy both singled in the game.
CU got to Brescia starter Shelby Franklin for 10 hits. Franklin didn't do herself any favors by also issuing six walks. The Lady Tigers scored three runs in each of the first two innings and two each in the third and fourth.
GAME 2: Campbellsville 4, Brescia 1
Neely Quint (8-2) committed a throwing error in the fourth that led to Brescia's only score, but other than that she threw seven innings of three-hit ball while striking out six.
CU scored two runs in the bottom of the third when Madison Mudd scored on a single by Shelby Ray and Ray scored on a wild throw to second base.
Then in the fifth, Brianna Scott's double scored Jacqueline Roof and Ray.
Ray had two hits in the game and Hailey Szpila, Markie Smith and Brittany Rippy all hit safely.
Campbellsville travels to Lindsey Wilson Friday, March 18 to open Mid-South Conference play with a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
