Softball sweeps Lindsey Wilson to go 3-1 in the MSC

COLUMBIA, Ky. — Victoria Decker picked up a win and a save today as Campbellsville swept Lindsey Wilson — 7-0, 4-3 — to grab a 3-1 record in conference play.

The Lady Tigers (18-7, 3-1 MSC) used Decker's shutout in game one and then brought her in for two strikeouts to seal the game-two victory

GAME 1: Campbellsville 7, Lindsey Wilson 0

Brianna Scott homered in the first and sixth innings and Jacqueline Roof added an insurance run in the sixth with a home run of her own as the Lady Tigers went on to defeat the Blue Raiders in the first game, 7-0.

Victoria Decker (9-4) pitched a two-hit shutout, walking two and striking out four.

Scott's homer, her team-leading fourth of the season, came after Roof led off the game with a free pass. After a slow start to the season, Scott now leads the team with 17 RBIs.

Decker set the Blue Raiders down and escaped a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of first inning, her biggest threat of the day.

Campbellsville led 4-0 going into the seventh when Casey Bryan, who threw a four-hitter into the inning, was relieved after Morgan Gailor's double cleared the bases in the top of the inning.

It was the only hit of the inning for CU, but it was a big one after Destiney Taul was hit by a pitch, Brittany Rippy reached on an error and Roof was intentionally walked.

GAME 2: Campbellsville 4, Lindsey Wilson 3

Hailey Szpila's two-run homer scored the runs Campbellsville needed in the second-game 4-3 win.

Neely Quint (9-3) had as five-hitter going through 6 1/3 and got relief help from Victoria Decker, who picked up her second save of the season. Decker came on with one on in the seventh and struck out two batters to end the game.

It was a nine-hit attack for CU with Shelby Ray and Markie Smith both collecting two hits apiece. Jacqueline Roof, Scott, Szpila, Madison Mudd and Destiney Taul all had one hit apiece.

Lindsey Wilson  falls to 18-10, 1-3 in MSC play.

Campbellsville travels to St. Catharine Tuesday, March 22 for another Mid-South Conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 ET.
